??I’m just curious, but does anyone else have problems with pasting in GL Transaction Entries from Excel when putting more than 1 entry in a batch?Ā  I accidentally ran into a workaround but it isn’t really convenient getting it to work.Ā  You have to save the transaction that you have just pasted the entry in to, go back to the Batch Entry screen (with the Expansion Arrow next to the Batch ID), close the GL Transaction Entry that is now behind it and then click the “Print” button to generate the Edit List.Ā  If you don’t do this and you simply save the entry and enter in a new entry header and paste in details on that entry, you get an error that damages the whole batch.Ā  Is there some kind of patch for this or script to run?Ā  We are on GP 2016.Ā  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

      Thanks,
      Jeff??

I’ve found that when pasting GL transactions from excel i must have the cursor in the 1st line of the account field, otherwise i get an error.

      Hi

      is absolutely correct.

The correct procedure for copy/paste from Excel is to have your data formatted in this EXACT format with no deviation (column headers would be in this order):
      Distribution Reference
      Account Number
      Debit
      Credit

You cannot deviate from that.Ā  The Distribution Reference above may be getting confused with the Header Reference.Ā  ??The Header Reference is ABOVE the line items in a JE entry.

The next is to highlight all of the data (EXCLUDING THE HEADERS)
Open up a new JE and fill out the header piece (including the header reference or it will error out)
Go to the first line of the Account Code entry and then click the Excel Paste Button.

Done in this exact order it should work every time.

Jeff, If I understand the problem correctly, you can copy/paste a JE just fine as long as it is only one JE?Ā  I tried to replicate this issue and could not.Ā  I could paste a JE, save in a batch and paste a new one and save and keep doing that with no issues.Ā  Also, I might add that I do not have to place the cursor in any particular place for the copy/paste to work.Ā  I can hit the paste button at any time and it works even if the header info is not yet filled in.Ā  We are on GP 2018 so it might be something they fixed after GP 2016.
