I have a user getting the following error when processing EFTs using VPN:
“The EFT file could not be generated in the path specified for PM Domestic Payments in Checkbook EFT Payables Options.”
There are no issues when processing while in the office.
Please advise.
Thanks!!

This is network/VPN setup issue. You could ask your IT folks to ensure the path defined under Checkbook EFT Payables Options window is reachable by VPN users.
To see the existing path/location, pull up the checkbook under Cards, Financial, Checkbook, then click on EFT Bank, Payables Options. It’s under Default Output Files.
If the VPN users have access to this setup within GP, he/she could temporarily change the output to Desktop and change it back once done. EFT file will then generate to the Desktop. This is a temp fix until the access issue will be resolved.——————————————-

Hi
This is related to their VPN access and the path configured in the EFT setup I noticed the same issue when users have the same path but using a different letter of the mapped drive.
I will make sure the user does have access to the path for the EFT folder via VPN. As a test have then try to get to the folder outside GP while on the VPN.
Then consider either
– Change the path to the folder the full path “\server.namefolderpath” (it may not work on all GP versions) – Assign the drive in EFT to all users via group policy… so if the EFT setup says to go to drive (Z:) all users that need that access should have a group policy that assignes that drive as (Z:) to them.
Hope this helps!

Hey Sally, Just to put this out there, running GP over a VPN is not supported unless you’re using a Terminal Server setup. In other words, if you have GP loaded directly on a laptop, connect to a VPN and try to run the GP that is loaded on the laptop – that is not supported.
Why can’t I run Microsoft Dynamics GP via ODBC over a WAN?
I had an interesting support case last week where the partner was asking why running Microsoft Dynamics GP via ODBC over a WAN was so slow? They had already told the customer that this was not supported, but the customer wanted reasons. Below is my response: I should start off saying that we definitely do…
