We are on GP 2016 R2, using a Terminal Server farm (three servers for load balancing) and would like to e-mail documents from within GP.Ā  Outlook is loaded locally on each person’s PC.

Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this without creating an Outlook profile for each person on each terminal server??

      Hi ?

I would set up an email alias to send from GP and set it up on all of the TS’s, you don’t usually send emails from individual user accounts in GP, that would get harrowing

Hi – What type of email server do you use? If it’s Exchange or Office 365, then you can change a GP system setting from MAPI to Exchange to send email from GP. This method will bypass Outlook entirely and you would not need to setup profiles on all of your terminal servers.

?The setting is found in Administration >> Setup >> System Preferences where you would just change the server type from MAPI to Exchange in the Email Preferences section.

Thanks Corey.  We are using Exchange.  We will give it a try.

You can also set up roaming profiles (as temperamental as they can be) so that each user has to set up their outlook profile once, then when they log in to each terminal the Outlook profile moves with them.

We’ve also done this in a Citrix environment so an app can also be deployed for users to quickly launch Outlook and allow their profile to be automatically set up.

      Hi
There has been an extensive discussion about Emailing out of GP within a Terminal Server environment :
      https://www.gpug.com/communities/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?MessageKey=ab8f4386-e3de-4544-8c80-fb4d907c991c&CommunityKey=4754a624-39c5-4458-8105-02b65a7e929e&tab=digestviewer#bmd143785a-17a2-440b-b350-2624d6c0b07c?

Check it out.. You can also use the GPUG Search option, there has been plenty of Webinars and training sessions about emailing with GP.
You don’t have to create an Outlook profile for each user (and you don’t want to). You can just use the Exchange functionality in GP To e-mail.
      Hope this helps.
