I have an HR user who wants to be able to attach documents on the Miscellaneous Benefits notes pages.  The user can enter text on the notes card but when they click on the paper-clip to attach a document it gives an error message – “You don’t have security privileges to open this window …”. 

The DEFAULTUSER security task is assigned to one of the roles that’s attached to the user. The document attachment operations are set this way in the default user

The screen that’s generating the error message is below.  The user clicks on the note icon next to the employee ID and then the paperclip to the left of the attach button.

What am I missing?  Thank you for the help

I figured it out.  Apparently setting it under the DEFAULTUSER wasn’t enough.

When I set it here, it worked.

  Part of my brain wants to say that makes sense, another part remains confused because I don’t understand how the permissions propagate through the DEFAULTUSER.  It seems to me that ifthey are set there, it should push through to the other areas.  Oh well.

Another solution to consider is called Enhanced Notes from GP Elementz.  It will alow you to have unlimited number of notes, email them, attache documents and more.  Might be a great solution for only $1000.
