We have a GL set up for COGS returns (and sales returns) but I don’t see a place in GP to enter the COGS returns GL for a default. I see the sales returns default. Is this not a possibility?Ā

      Hi Charlotte,

Unfortunately not.Ā  You can have only one COGS default and only one per Item.Ā  However you can still override the COGS manually at the Return transaction level.

Thank you for the response. I appreciate the information. Not the answer I hoped for but I did expect it since I wasn’t able to locate it.

Out of curiosity, why would you want your return COGS to hit a different GL than your Sale? As a return you’d normally want to offset the original COGS from the invoice.

In our prior system we had a GL for sales and a GL for COGS which would net out. Then we had a different GL for Sales Returns and COGS returns which also netted out but gave us a better view of all the returns (netted). At this point I think we would be better to just have everything go to the sales/COGS accounts.

Not that the way we handled before is correct or better it just was……
