Using Outlook 2013 64bit without Exchange server. PC has outlook profile but unable to send email.

Have tried registry hack but this did not work.

System Requirements for 2016 says both Office 2013 and 2016 supported on 64bit.

Hi Simon,

The 64 bit version of Outlook will only work with Exchange.   The 32 bit version will work with MAPI or Exchange.

From what I understand, this has more to do with Outlook than GP.

You can switch between Exchange and MAPI within GP.  

Microsoft Dynamics GP  > Tools > Setup > System > System Preferences.

Re-read the system requirements.  It’s a bit misleading saying it supports Office 64 bit.  Look at the notes right after that – 

NOTES:               
1. If using Office x64, the server type in System Preferences
(Microsoft Dynamics GP | Tools | System | Setup | System
 Preferences) must be set to Exchange.
2. …
3. If using Office 32bit, the server type in System Preferences can
either be MAPI or Exchange

GP cannot talk to Outlook 64 bit, so your system pref must be set to Exchange, and it will talk directly to the Exchange server.  If you have Outlook 32 bit, you can send emails directly through Outlook.
