After upgrading from 18.0 to 18.4 unable to reset the password. Getting The password change failed for an unknown reason. Enter a different password or contact your system administrator. SA account work fine. Now the new GP is on a different SQL from 14.0 to 15.0

If you have moved GP to a new SQL Instance you will need to recreate all the SQL Logins and Database Users.

There are manual methods, but GP Power Tools can achieve this in a few minutes with its Database Validation feature.

It can even email out new automatically generated passwords to all users for you.

      Regards

      David?

Here is a link to an article that gives a script to capture logins and move them from one SQL install to another.Ā  When we do this, we still go into SQL and set all the passwords to be blank so the next time the user try to login, GP will tell them that blank passwords aren’t allowed and will make them reset the password at that time.

Capture Logins sql script from KB878449 – link broken – Microsoft Dynamics GP Forum Community Forum

      Hope that helps,
      Windi?

Thank you for the info. I was able to use the script to move the Users over from the old SQL to the new one. Thank you so much for all your help.
