We are on AX 2009. I’m looking at our Purchase Requisition process and note we don’t have an automated way to route contracts associated with a purchase requisition to the legal department for review and approval before approving the purchase requisition.

Can that kind of approval process be done in AX 2009  (practically)?
Are the approval flows in D365 significantly enhanced to the point that this could be done?

Or does someone out there already have a way to do that?

      Clark,

I am not familiar with workflow in 2009, but in 2012 (and therefore D365), I believe this can be done. I have attached an image for reference.

      I would recommend the following:

      1. Conditional decision to determine if the requisition meets some basic criteria for your workflow.

      2. If False, send to an approval step where the automatic actions are set to fail all requisitions that come thru this step.

      3. If True, a manual decision which you could assign to whichever user or user group needs to approve the documentation.

3a. If they select option (2) because the docs do not meet the requirements, route to Step 2 for auto-fail.

3b. If they select option (1) because the docs do meet the requirements, continue to Step 4.

      4. Requisition approval step.

Feel free to reach out to me with an email if you have additional questions about what I am suggesting.
