Hi AXUG, 

I am new to this site, but in desperate need of guidance from my peers.  Has anyone integrated a TMS system with AX R3 2012?  Do you have any best practices or lessons learned from this effort.  My organization does not have a TMS today.  We have been using excel spreadsheets, manual processes, with some rules engine tables in legacy system (which is a home grown UNIX based system) for many years.  Since the organization has decided to replace legacy system with AX R3 2012, we though it would be wise to include the TMS.

Our company OnActuate is Dynamics AX partner and we have implemented the Timesheet management system of AX for internal purpose. To Summarize we have opened different projects and all employees are booking their time in one of the project. It is also linked to financials. Another benefit is the out of box workflows available in AX TMS.

In case you are not having any particular requirement AX should work for you.

If TMS is time entry?
We use Timesheets in project and Time registration in production control for all our employees to enter time, we also use it for contractors to track their time on site.
We also use the time to pay employees using an outside payroll system

Hey Liz,
Hope you’re doing well. Always happy to discuss questions you have on the TMS or any external TMS add-ons since I handled a lot of that side on your proposal. You’ll see a lot of users going with third party products or not fully implementing the Transportation Management module because of the overheard of maintain the rating and routing engines with the various lanes, hubs, and changing data from their carriers.
