Hi, We are sorting by sort code in the Edit query of our work template, however when an item is split into different locations it will visit all locations for ItemA (using sort code), then may revisit the same locations for ItemB (again using sort code) and so on. This means that any given location can be visited multiple times (work lines are first sorted by item and then by location even though the work template only contains the sort code).Ā
For example, suppose a sales order contains 4 pcs of ItemA & 3 pcs of ItemB. LocationA (sort code 2) contains 2 pcs of ItemA and 2 pcs of ItemB. LocationB (sort code 1) contains 2 pcs of ItemA and 1 pc of ItemB.
Work lines will look like this: ItemA pick 2 pcs from LocationBĀ ItemA pick 2 pcs from LocationAĀ ItemB pick 1 pc from LocationBĀ ItemB pick 2 pcs from LocationA
We would expect to see this:Ā ItemA pick 2 pcs from LocationBĀ ItemB pick 1 pc from LocationBĀ ItemA pick 2 pcs from LocationAĀ ItemB pick 2 pcs from LocationA
Have you come across this kind of behavior and do you know how to have the work sorted by location only, and not by item?
Thank you Tania

Have you tried setting up Cluster Picking?Ā This is what this was meant for.

Yes, we tried cluster picking but it’s still following the order of the work lines (sorted by item first and then sort code). Can you see anything wrong with our cluster setup? BTW, we also tried adding the sort code in the Set up Cluster/Cluster sorting

What does your location directive show? You should be able to add sorting in the location directive to go by location then item number. I’m not sure how the Sort code affects this though, i have rarely had to use that for most of my clients.
