from MS D365 MB 300 documentation Legal entityĀ – A separate number sequence is used for each legal entity. Use theĀ Legal entityĀ scope when the underlying table does not include theĀ DataAreaIdĀ field and has a foreign key to the legal entity tableĀ CompanyInfo. For example, use this scope for the number sequence for the expense report number that is in the expense report tableĀ TrvExpTable.

Good morning Najeem; My experience with sequences is related to AX2012, but I’d assume they are similar enough for this to be relevant.
I assume you are asking the difference between “Company” and “Legal Entity” number sequence scopes?Ā From the documentation you quoted, you would use “Legal Entity” when you want separate Sequence Numbers for each company but the underlying table DOESN’T contain a DataAreaId.Ā “Company” is used for number sequences for things like Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, etc. where you want a separate number sequence per legal entity and the underlying table (SalesTable and PurchTable) DOES contain a DataAreaId field.
For the most part, I just let the Number Sequence Wizard do its thing.Ā It is smart enough to select the proper scope.
