We are on AX2012 R3 CU11 (moving to D365FO later this year) and have purchased the Sable37 ICON Credit and Collections module. We are wondering if anyone currently using this module would be willing to share some of your experiences and knowledge with us, primarily in the areas of credit hold functionality and linked customer groups.

We purchased the Sable C&C module expressly for the two reasons you stated and it performs quite well for us. The credit hold feature provides us the ability to hold and release our customer’s orders on an “order by order” basis when exceeding limits (or other chosen criteria), while the linked customer function allows us to consolidate limits on the customer’s “corporate” level. It has provided us the vehicle we needed, lacking in AX, to departmentalize credit management. If part of your desired credit policy is to allow your sales staff to enter orders, but have a method in place for a credit officer to review and approve orders from marginal and/or past due customers prior to confirmation, then Sable will serve you well. The module provides a number of features that we do not utilize, such as across-entity credit limit consolidation and claims management, but it has proven its value through these two features alone.
If I could improve upon it, it would be to have an instantaneous notification to the order taker that their order being held has been released. This could probably be accomplished through alerts, but not instantaneously, as best practice for alerts in AX is to process in batch to avoid burdening the system.
The only work around we had to do was to load the linked customer limits that are in Sable onto the AX customer master (Note: for us, a linked customer in Sable = Invoice (parent) account in AX). If this is not done, you will lose the visibility of the “working limit” on your AX forms and fact boxes. This, in turn, requires that you keep the limits in the two modules in sync. If this visibility is not important to you, then take care not to input a limit at all, as the limits can work independently of each other. Ā Not a big deal to keep them in sync, but they really should have incorporated a field for the linked limits into standard AX.
If you have a specific question in mind regarding set up or functionality, I’ll try and answer. (I am a super-user, not a techy.)
