My companyĀ haveĀ severalĀ branches in different countries and eachĀ branch is setup as anĀ Legal entityĀ in AX2012.
The scenario is, customer in China will purchase from both Chinese and US entity. The country code of this customer’s address is “CHN” in both entities. However, an address written in Chinese will start with the biggest geographical component (the province) and end with the smallest one (the addressee) which is quite the oppsite of US address format. We can only applyĀ one address format to this country/region. We thought of creating another Country/Region say “CHN2” to have the other address format but it could have impact on our reportings.Ā I would greatly appreciate it if you kindly give me someĀ advice and suggestion about how to handle this without creating a new country/region.——————————

Hi Jason.
I am not sure I understand your setup. Your sales order is to either a customer in CHN or in US but from 2 different legal entities. E.g. Legal entity CHN sells to CN and legal entity US sells to US.Then the address is based on that particular customer address format. Or??

?If one entity is printing the address in English and the other in some version of Chinese using Chinese characters, you will need two different addresses. There isn’t support forĀ language translations within a single address.ĀAs far as the formatting of the address itself, you canĀ try to get the CHN format to print correctly, but my experience has been that it is far easier to just type the full address for Chinese addresses into the Street Address field and use Ctrl-Enter to separate the lines. So, in our address book for Chinese ship to addresses, we only select the country and input everything else into the street address. We did tweak the address format setup by checking the “Expand” box on the Country/Region code so that the full country name prints instead of an abbreviation.
For us, this was the best answer. Yours may be to add a new address format and associate it with a new country/region code. Both are options. What we’ve seen, however, is that the Chinese addresses we get from our customers vary in format – some more than others – even within a single customer. We’ve found that putting everything in the street address field is the easiest way to handle those variations, especially since all we really know or can glean about the Chinese addressing system comes from the addresses we are given. Companies such as yours which operate in China may have better sourcesĀ for localĀ knowledge to draw from which could allow for a more complex setup that utilizes more of AX’s built in address formatting functionality.

?Without a mod, your best option is to use two address entries, one for each translation. Further, place the entire address in the street field.
You can then change the address format to only show the street address field, so you can still populate the other fields which will be needed for tax and other reporting.I haven’t done it before, but I’m familiar enough with the address rules to think it will work for you.

The question for me is….. the address of the chinese customer doesn’t change because you are selling to them from the US. Why do you need it to appear differently when you are selling from the US?——————————
