Anyone know how to resolve this without deleting an existing quality order?

The issue is if we receive the same lot number of material twice under the same purchase order, we cannot process the quality orders.Ā

      Ā

      Details:

Two Quality orders involved (IQO-00454 and IQO-00455).Ā  Item number 60102 and Batch (lot) 0000907562.Ā

It will not allow us to process the individual quality orders.Ā  Nor will is allow me to combine the quality orders.

      Ā

As of now the material is on hold until we can have this resolved.Ā

      Ā

Are the QOs related to Quarantine orders? It is possible to create an inescapable Quarantine order in AX2009 (no mods).
Do you not get any error messages?
Are you able to pass the test results?

We resolved this issue. Ā Here are the steps we took.

For us, the Quality Department’s objective is to review each PO Receipt as a separate event. What we had was an improper configuration of the Test Groups. Ā By changing the “Update batch disposition” option under the general tab of each test group to false (unchecked), we were then able to have multiple quality orders against the same batch and close them as independent tasks without a conflict. Ā

      Seem quite obvious now!

Thanks team for all your insights and suggestions. Ā

      Hi Jeff,
When you say, it will not let you process the quality orders, are you getting errors that won’t allow you to process?

      Jeff-
There is an option to limit to one quality order per batch. It may be that the dimensions are allocated to the two quality orders and it can’t figure out how to divide that dimension appropriately when it comes to the actual processing. I thought it breaks by lot ID, but that is not really an active dimension.
Also, are you set to generate quality orders per registration or per product receipt?

The error is you can’t close the quality order because it states there is one already open for this batch number.

I would like to know more about the comment where it was stated there is a config to not allow multiple receipts on a batch number… Ā I can’t see where that limit is in R2 2012. Ā

We kick off quality orders per receipt against a blanket PO so when we receive a series of shipments in a given day for a specific vendor’s product, we do receive the same batch number multiple times.

Each receipt generates a quality order for inspection.

      Hi Jeff,Ā
      Ā  Ā A couple questions:
      Ā
1.) When are you initializing the AX Batch number? Ā Does the batch number exist on the PO line, or are you generating from the number sequence at registration, or is it manual and you are typing in the vendors batch number? Ā Also, are you using Vendor Batch registration functionality from the Item Model Group? Ā

2.) What is your Item Sampling set up to do, please provide a screenshot? Ā

3.) Does your test group have the quality order trying to update batch disposition?

4.) What does your quality association look like? Ā Ā

I’m guessing Jeff’s comment is related to the Item Sampling -> Per Tracking Dimension -> Batch flag. Ā But that will just split the existing transaction into multiple quality orders if there are multiple batches on the transaction (IE a production order RAF making 5 different batch numbers). Ā I’m not aware of one flag that restricts quality order creation to one per batch / item number. Ā You have to configure multiple things to cause that outcome. Ā

Also, while looking at something else I came across a couple hotfixes you may want to investigate. Ā

I had commented earlier on the item sampling setup that only allows one quality order per batch per either product receipt or registration. We set ours to per batch per product receipt, as we do not want a quality order for every pallet that we register. If there are multiple batches on the load, we get one quality order per batch on the product receipt.

(Editorial: I would prefer the timing at registration, but a quality order for every pallet is a little extreme. I would also prefer the flexibility to make corrections at the registered status, product receipt being a one way transaction. But the settings being as they are, we are forced to choose.)

      Hope this helps!
