We are on AX 2012 RTM.Ā We run MRP three times daily 1:00 am, 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm.Ā The batch jobs have three tasks with dependencies.
Delete Plan runs first with no dependencies. Forecast Scheduling runs second with an Ended dependency on Delete Plan. Master Scheduling runs third with an Ended dependency on Forecast Scheduling.
From time to time, we find that the batch jobs do not fail, but they do not update data accordingly.Ā In order to resolve the issue, we have to manually run each task separately.
Does anyone have the same or similar issues or know if this is a known bug?
Many thanks in advance. Lori

Hi Lori, I would create a case with Microsoft to investigate. Firstly, because many performance improvements came in AX2012 after RTM, in versions R2 and R3. Secondly, running delete plan is a workaround to code issue. Master planning regeneration itself should be capable to doing the delete plan task without deleting the plan as a separate job first. Many companies do not need to do this but I have seen it to fix database inconsistencies for companies running AX2012, especially if they have lots of levels to their BOMs and are making frequent updates to them. Specifically, most of the clients I have seen using it have had issues with many BOM levels and using Product variants. Hope this helps!
Thanks Drew

We also run a Delete plan prior to plan run – never have had problems with that.Ā I know it sounds weird, but we’ve only been able to get MRP to run consistently in batch with the “Track item process duration”? setting checked. We had problems with the plan not completing – no errors. Looked at everything – item setups, timing of backups – no leads. We could tell by the plan run stats that maybe 30% of the plan was just not executed. Taking backup of same database and testing with this setting allowed the entire plan to run.
