      Good day,Ā

Is it possible to reset or edit the Party ID numbers in the Global Address Book?

      Thank you.Ā

      Hi,

I don’t think editing/changing Party ID is possible in D365FO. Could you please let us know your business requirement and you can check below links which contain FAQ on Party record.

You can check for duplicate records directly from the Global address book list page. On the Action Pane, on the Party tab, in the Maintain group, click Check for duplicates. Then select the values to include in the check for duplicates. Yes, you can add multiple party records to an address book and also remove multiple party records.

The PartyID field is auto-generated by AX and cannot be changed, I agree withĀ Chaitanya we would have to know what your business requirements are.

      Good morning,Ā

      Thanks for the responses.Ā

We imported a list of customers however due to some inaccurate fields, the customers had to be deleted. We determined that party IDs were allocated on the first import, therefore we would have liked to reset the IDs so that on re-import we can maintain the same numbers.Ā

      Regards,
      Faygen

      Hi Faygen

Which version are you using? Is it D365 FO?

Deleting the customers would not have deleted the records on the global address book. Could you map the current Party IDs with your list of customers (by name, for example) and then import the customers with the Party ID already assigned?

      Regards

Though this is a requirement as it seems, it is technically not feasible to make any modifications in Party ID in Global Address Book.

I do not think you should be concerned with continuity of the PartyID.Ā  It is a big, dumb, number that defines uniqueness of entities in the system.Ā  While you are loading your Customers, it is possible that someone else is creating a Vendor or a Contact or an Employee or a Legal Entitiy that will use a number in the sequence of PartyIDs that are being created by your Customer Import.Ā  Other than uniqueness, it doesn’t have any other attibutes.Ā

You should consider the numbers burned and let your good Customer import assign new numbers.
