We’ve got two finished items that we cannot scan production because it says there is not enough “On Order.” I’ve tried to up the quantity of the production order to see if it would increase the on order, but it does not.

We’ve not made any changes to the raw material that it consumes.  How do I fix?

Here is a screen shot of the error.  I have no clue where there is not enough on order.  I can see the amount is needed for the order, but it’s saying that its not available.

What do the latest transactions for the item look like? Reserved somewhere?

I had tried to reserve some in the production order, but that didn’t work either.  I looked at all that was on order, and it was the exact amount that was needed to complete the job.  I had to ship it, so I had to do an adjustment journal of all raws into fgs.  šŸ™  I have more orders next week, so I’ll see if it does it again.

      Hi Jessica,
This happens occasionally when something is done to a picking list or production order out of sequence. Maybe the quantity was changed, or it has to do with an output order.

Here’s a thread that may help where users had the same issue:
How to fix production error: The quantity cannot be reduced. The number of inventory transactions on order is too low because the quantity or part of it is referenced by an output order or a production order or is marked against other transactions.”&a – Microsoft Dynamics AX Community Forum

Thanks Andrew.  I’ve got it saved to my bookmarks bar for when it rears its ugly head again. I’ll let you know my outcome.
