We need to mark items as obsolete by product variant (in my case, color).Ā  “Obsolete” means that a sales order cannot be placed against the item in the obsolete color and planning will ignore the obsolete color.Ā  Is there a way to accomplish this? We are in D365 10.0.3. #D365, #FinanceandOperations????

      Hi Carey,Ā
Ā you’d have to do two things:
      1) Have an obsolete product lifecycle state with the checkbox “Is active for planning” disabled and assign it to all the Released product variants that you no longer sell.
      2) Under Default order settings, check the “Stopped” flag under each tab either for each variant combination or at the 0 level to apply to all configurations.

      Thanks
      Drew

      Hi Andrew,

Is this same functionality available in AX 2012 R3?

      Thanks
      Greg

      Hi Greg,
I was searching for release notes to see if this functionality was backported to AX2012 R3 on a later CU but was having trouble confirming.Ā  I do not believe it is available but if anyone is 100% sure, please comment here šŸ™‚

      Hi Greg,Ā
AX 2012 R3 does not have this functionality. You can only stop the product masters and not the released variants individually. We looked into a customization but decided to hold off because it is standard in D365FO.

Thanks, Sarah. Thanks, Andrew. I’ll check into the backporting option. That would be a great solution for us if its available.
