We are going through our annual audit and the auditors are asking for a list of journal entries entered by specific users.  Anyone know if a report can be created in MR for this?  Has anyone else had this request?  Or possibly a GL report can be generated out of AX 2012?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

      Hey James,

Something else you could try.  If you change the detail level on your report definition to “Financial, Account, and Transaction,” and include some “ATTR” columns in your column definition, you can get a lot of the info you’re looking for from MR.

MR column definition including ATTR columns
Doing so, when you drill all the way down to the transactional level, will give you results that look similar to the following:

      Transactional details including attribute columns
I know it doesn’t get everything you want, but it might help a bit and allows you to keep this in MR instead of dumping it out to an Excel report.  You can also do that, if you want, from MR and at least have a consistent set of data to refer to.

Excel export from MR showing attributes in transactional data

MR is for financial statement reporting and a certain level of detail so I don’t think the created by is available in MR
Here is the screen I use to find out who did the transaction. It is very useful when those who “forget” they did the transaction and posted it.
      General Ledger>Inquiries>Voucher transactions
You have to personalize to add the CREATED BY and CREATED DATE

One approach is to use the “voucher transactions” inquiry in the general ledger module and filter on the “created by” field by the user ID.

The GL Audit Report allows you to filter by “Created By” and also a date range.  You might also look at the posted transactions by journal report under GL>Reports>Journals. You can add additional report filter criteria to suit your needs (i.e. General Journal Entry table, created by field. I have seen people use the voucher transactions inquiry as well by adding the appropriate filters and then exporting the results set to Excel.

      Hi James,

I ended up building a ‘Journal Entry Audit Report’ from scratch in SSRS for our auditors since I couldn’t find one that contained what they needed.  My report includes the following fields: the entity (or company), the general journal number, journal batch number, journal name, journal description, GL account, total DR & total CR in both transaction and accounting currency, transaction currency code, date of journal entry, subledger voucher, posting layer, and lastly, the JE submitter and the JE approver.  I have attempted to upload a screenshot.

      Regards,
      Jeanette

      ?Hi James,

It is a common request from the auditors in the last 7+ years as they are doing more detailed analysis on the manual journal entries.
Did you try creating the report using attributes in the column definition? I am in D365 so my attributes might be different to yours – I have “created by” attribute that should have the name of the user posting the entry.

This is a very common audit request.Ā  We use Globe Software’s ATLAS tool to query the data and create what we call the “Audit Trail Report.” The auditors select their journal entry sample from this report. We run AX2012/CU7.

      Hello James,
What about the audit trial inquiry form in GL?
It shows you the person that recorded a specific journal and allows you investigating the transactions recorded in that journal.
      Best regards,
      Ludwig

      Hi James,

We are also running AX 2012, and got the same request from our auditors.Ā  We used the voucher transaction inquiry in the GL module. You can filter it by the attribute “Created By” so you only get the entries created by the specific users they are requesting.Ā

Good Luck with your audit!! šŸ™‚

?Thanks, Joanna, Jimmy, Ludwig & Vienna.

The audit is DONE!Ā  I ended up using the Audit Trail in the GL module.Ā  It provided the most concise information.Ā  The one thing that was challenging was that we needed to run it for every company.Ā  We have over 40 companies.Ā  I’ve tried using Management Reporter but I have been able to create this report easily.Ā  I will relook at it though.Ā Ā  Thanks everyone!
