    Hi,

We have different work areas in our Dynamics 365 system.

For example Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance etc.

We want to restrict the different work-areas to each business unit so marketing should only see the marketing work area, sales only see the sales work area etc.

I cannot seem to find the option how to do this?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Deepak

    Hi Deepak,

Presumably you are talking about the area switcher in the bottom left of your app?
If so, no – there is no way that I know of to do this. Afaik, the only way that a user would not see an area, would be if they had no access (whatsoever) to the tables in the area – this is a very unlikely scenario.
I asked this before myself and the Microsoft party line is to create a separate app for each group that you want to have a different experience.

    Hi Deepak

Do as Donal suggests – separate App for each group then you can control each group easily.

We’ve done and it works perfectly. With the App you can control the views forms dashboards each group can see and for common entities (eg contacts) you can surface different forms or views if necessary.

You then control which App each user can see/select (usually just the one they need) by a security role (even if you need to make dummy ones) using the elipses on the App screen

Hi, one option would be to apply different security roles to the users and associate only those security roles to the specific app

    Thanks,
