We have been live with AX 2012 R3 for several months now and still do not have a definitive process for handling the situation where a sales order is released to the warehouse, the picking work completed, and then someone asks to have one or more items canceled off the order before (or after) it has been packed.

I have tried using the “Reduce picked quantity” button on the load without success.

      Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

      Thanks,

      Alison

      Hello Alison,
      Ā
You may have missed a step during reduce picked quantity. After you reduce the picked quantity, expand the “Shipment” fast tab within the shipment details. If you still see shipment details, click the delete button from the ribbon at the top.Ā

      This usually works for us.Ā

      Hi Rob,

Thanks for the reply.Ā  Looking at your response, I think my problem is that I can’t get past the “reduce picked quantity” step.Ā  After I select a location and an amount to reduce and click “OK” I get an infolog error that the “Work failed to cancel”.Ā  A setup issue maybe?

      Hi Alison,

I copied your scenario up to packing. I then went back to the sales order and placed it on hold. I then tried to reduce the picked quantity and it gave an error, not the same as yours but it’s the only time I can get it to error. Are you placing your orders on hold? Maybe talk to your Ax Developers too, could be a setup issue as you say?

?What would you tell them if the item had already shipped?
I ask, because the two situations are very similar – and just telling the customer it’s too late to change their mind might be a better answer…or to send it back and let it go thru the returns process…

(Usually if it’s been picked, it’s either packed & sitting on the dock waiting for pickup, or will be very shortly….)

I absolutely agree with you Tony however, there are times where you need to make these adjustments, sometimes it’s way more cost effective to make the cancellation. It all depends on the circumstance.

      Hi Alison,
The reduce picked quantity button can be used if the line being “reduced” has already been fully processed on the Work ID. When you click the button to remove a line from the load, you should be prompted with another screen where you have to specify the quantity to be unpicked and the location you are moving the inventory to. If you just click the button then OK, nothing will occur and the item will not be unpicked or moved.

      Thanks
      Drew
