We have GL FX revals ran at every month end, Ā sometimes they are ran twice or more as changes may be made. Ā What we are seeing is every time we run the reval it effectively appears to reverse and repost. The reversal does not appear in the originating account (a gain reverses to the loss account) as it appears to post the entry on signage.

Example: even if no changes Ā

      Reval 1: Gain posted 5

Reval 2: Loss posted -5 Gain posted 5 (should not be posting as we have no change)

Reval 3: Loss posted -5 Gain posted 5 (should not be posting as we have no change)

Result being we now have a Gain of 15 and a Loss of 10 in the P&L which is incorrect

The route cause has been identified as an issue with the accounting string / revised account structures / main account fixings. Essentially the reval groups balance by currency by accounting string balances. We carried out a development so that the reval would ignore the string but the result is that we do not have recurring postings but we don’t respect the required main account fixings. We are now exploring if we can somehow reclass the history string making up the balance to result in the balance containing only 1 string that respects the current requirements.
      Thoughts?
