      ?Good Morning-
      AX2012 R3, I believe CU8
Production Put Away using WMS on RF
In the mobile device menu items screen we have our Production Put Away menu option set under Work Confirmation setup for Location Confirmation. In our setup we use Suggest Location as an option. Our users may go to the fixed location of an item as directed by AXĀ and for whatever reason, they may not be able to do the put away there. In our location directives the second line directs them to a zone with multiple locations where they can put the product away. They will click on Suggest location and AX will direct them to a new location. The only issue we have with this is that when you use this method, we cannot find a way for AX to force the user to verify the location. it appears the process that AX uses when you select the Suggest Location does not enforce the location scan.

Has anyone encountered this and found a way to force the location verification?
      Thanks,
      Randy

      Hi Randy,
Rather than using Suggest location, can you have a Location directive action on the second line to use a method like “Empty location with no incoming work” or “Consolidate?” or you could just use Sorting within that Zone to direct by location in ascending/descending or something similar.

This may depend on what exactly is the logic you need from a suggestion which you may be able to just use the Sorting or Action in the location directive rather than the Suggestion so the user is told a location within your zone.

?Actually that is exactly what we have setup. sequence 1, look for fixed location and consolidate. Sequence 2 look in a particular zone for a location with no incoming work. Since we do not have min/max setup on locations AX always send them to the fixed location first. Then when they use the Suggest Location it sends them to this zone. But that is where it does not make them scan to confirm the location. It appears AX kind of goes outside the logic you have setup and does not do the confirm location that is setup for the usual part of the RF Menu Item.

I’m unsure of what you mean by needing Min/Max as that shouldn’t related to this scenario.

If your 1st Location Directive is set to “Fixed locations only” and “Consolidate” strategy and fails, and the 2nd Location Directive is “Fixed and nonfixed locations ” and “Empty locations with no incoming work” as strategy with filter on a zone, AX should already be telling the user a Put location that is not the same as the Fixed location, they should not need the Suggest location button as your directive should already assign a location in the Zone based on what you have in the Sorting criteria.

?Sorry for the confusion. What I was saying is that if we had a max quantity setup on a fixedĀ location, then AX would not try to go to that location. It would automatically know not to send the person to a fixed location that had max quantity forcing us to use suggest a location.

      Hi Randy,

Suggest Location is triggered via the Override Location function, right? Looks like you found a limitation with the product there. I thought it might have been fixed, especially as you are on CU8, but I just tried it in a very recent release of R3 and see the same behaviour. Personally I think you might have some success with a hotfix if you could get your partner to log it with MS, but even if it were successfuly, that’s a massive lot of changes to take to install that on top of CU8.

Have you thought if you can configure location stocking limits instead. I think if AX knows that the fixed location is full, it will automatically suggest an alternative location, and then location confirmation would work.
