      Hello,

I work for an ISV that does integrations with both Dynamics AX and Dynamics 365 for Operations and I started a blog to document the differences between the two systems as well as step by step guides on how to accomplish tasks in the new Dynamics 365 for Operations.

Feel free to check it out and/or suggest topics:

Thanks Alex.  I look forward to reading your future posts!

One question: your post about the deprecation of the SDT in D365 doesn’t mention if there is a way to simulate security for a particular role in D365.  For example, in the SDT you can select a role and then click the “Open the security test workspace” to test the role without logging out of AX and back in again.  Is there a similar function in D365?

      Daniel,

I have not been able to find a feature in D365FO that mimics this functionality from AX 2012 in the UI or in the AOT back end. If anyone knows of anything like this that already exists or when/if Microsoft is looking to implement this feature that would be great news to hear.

Daniel – What I understood from conversations/sessions that I had at Summit was NO there is not currently (as of October 2016) the ability to open a test workspace.  I’ve reached out to the Microsoft contact that was assigned to the Security track.  Microsoft is continuing to take features that were a part of the SDT and implement them as standard features either in the UI or in visual studio aka developer workspace.  In my blog, http://www.erpprojecttips.com, I’ve posted some details on security in D3FO.  And I also capturing information posted and summarizing in a post with references back to the original source.

      Great info!
Very helpful. As our implementation takes off, I will be adding reports on our progress.
