Has anyone else had difficulty with set up for asset disposal?
?Looking for advice on correctly scrapping asset from Fixed Assets in AX 12.
I have been researching and making changes to the posting profile, but have not mastered the set up.

My latest error message states: Account for transaction type Disposal-scrap value model XYZ does not exist for fixed asset.  
The offset account does not populate in the journal voucher.

This is what I currently have that is not working
Depreciation (this year) Main Accum Depr  Offset G/L
Depreciation (prior years) Main Accum Depr Offset G/L
Acquisition Value Main Asset Offset G/L
Net book value Main G/L Offset G/L

Hi Sandra,
Try the following:
1.  Depreciation this year:  Depreciation Expense.  Offset is Gain/Loss
2.  Depreciation prior year:  Same thing.  Depreciation expense.  Offset is Gain/Loss
3.  Acquisition is an asset account.  Example: computer.  Offset is Gain/Loss
4.  NBV:  Gain/Loss.  Offset is also Gain/Loss.

It seems that it does not like my Financial Dimension?
I have posted depreciation correctly.

Hi Sandra,

You are correct- this is an account structure error.  You need to look at your account structure ‘other’ and make sure that the financial dimension DEPT 1705 is allowed for the main account 90500.

Also, regarding your posting profile setup, if you use the acquisition adjustment or depreciation adjustment transactions, please be sure to include those in your disposal – scrap parameters.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

?Thanks Chris.  I took your advice and allowed the FIN DIM on the account.  That allowed me to progress.

I am making progress, however, when previewing the journal it is correctly crediting the asset, debiting accumulated depreciation, and correctly charging the gain/loss account.
My new error message is :  The Fixed Asset has been sold or scrapped. 

The only entry transaction that I have is acquisition and depreciation.  I checked the status of the fixed asset and it is “open”

Obviously I’m missing a very important step in this disposal process.

Hi Sandra,
How do you purchase your FA?  From PO or from AP journal? 
Could you post your screenshot on the upper part of the FA Posting Profile? The FA Posting Profile has two sections.  The upper part is for acquisition and depreciation.  I need to see that.

Hi Sandra,

I understand that the status on the asset is open.  I’m curious though, is there only one value model associated with this asset (with the status of open)?  Do any value models exist on the asset that have a status of closed?

There is a bug associated with that error message.  If a value model has a status of ‘Closed’ then the user cannot disposal scrap the asset.  The hotfix is KB 3214005 and it is part of the CU 13.  Please click this link.
