When trying to delete a free text invoice template I get the following error. “You cannot delete this setup because recurring invoices have been generated using this setup”. We have a list of templates that we no longer use. Are we stuck with these templates forever or is there a way to delete them?

Hi Travis,

Unfortunately, that is the nature of D365FO. Once an invoice is generated and posted, that template will be there to show the history of the template on the Customer record. Similarly, as you know, posted transactions cannot be deleted, nor can a Customer with transactions be deleted either. Now, if the invoices haven’t been posted, you can delete the invoices that have been generated and then go back and delete the template, but that is going to be the least likely scenario.
