D365 F&O On-Premise Performance
Posted by rbock@cepc.net on December 16, 2019 at 10:05 pm-
We are having performance problems with D365 F&O On-Premise.Ā Often users’ navigation between pages takes up to 90 seconds.Ā It is not one particular page – once the problem begins, all pages are equally as slow.Ā The problem seems to appear out of nowhere – everything is running fine and then it suddenly becomes incredibly slow.Ā Not all users experience problems at the same time – I’ve had my session running horribly slow while a colleague across the hall is having no problems.Ā The only work-around we have found is that the user will need to delete cookies, refresh the page and then log in again.Ā This fixes the problem 90% of the time, when it doesn’t try the same routing and add closing the browser.
When the problem is present, performance on the servers is completely normal.Ā We have 3 AOS servers with between 5-15 users logged in on average.Ā All 3 have 24GB ram and 4 CPUs.Ā The SQL server has 32GB ram and 4 CPU.Ā I have tried to isolate AOS servers to see if one of them was faulty, but the inconsistent problem happens consistently on all 3 AOS servers.Ā I’m not really sure what else to try.

are you using the Edge browser? we found this to be something that we ran into also, things would get extremely slow. We tried the Google Chrome browser and things immediately went back to normal. I am not sure what the issue with Edge is, but we did report it to Microsoft. The servers would look perfectly normal yet we would be so slow it was nearly unusable, then when we had our users use Chrome it worked and did not experience the same slow downs again. As a side note Microsoft is releasing a version of Edge on Chromium, I have been using the beta for it and it never has experienced the slow downs. I believe your issue to be the Edge browser. that might be why deleting cookies etc causes it to improve.

RandyLog into LCS and look to see if there are long running queries. You will also seeĀ “blocking statements”. I am not sure what training you have received, you could take the next steps yourself or open a service/incident ticket with Microsoft for assistance with performance.
It is also possible that your queries encountered performance issues because they need better plan guides. This step has to be done by Microsoft.

Hi Ravi,
We are running our system on-premise.Ā I’m pretty new to D365 but I don’t think we can see things like that in LCS, right?

Update:Ā After much research with Microsoft, we have found that D365 FO on-premise does not support SQL multi-subnet failover.Ā After manually disabling mult-subnet, everything started working fine.Ā Microsoft currently has a fix for this slated for PU42.
