Is there an easy way to convert a D365FO Task Recording file with the .AXTR extension to the .XML developer version?
The .AXTR files appear to be encoded in a way that makes them unreadable to a text editor program (ex Notepad). I am looking for a way to convert them to make it easier for automated parsing. I know I can upload these one at a time back into D365FO and then download the developer but if a client has thousands of these that’s not really feasible.
Ax an example, on the left is the AXTR file, on the right is the XML of the same file.

My first guess is that the .axtr is compressed, like .xlsx or .docx. If you re-name it .zip and decompress it, what do you get??

Hi,
There is a way to convert using VS tool, I used it as part of my performance testing on generating the test script.
You are exactly correct, this file can be unzipped (without even having to rename the file extension) and inside is a Recording.xml file which is the developer task recording file.
