Just like we used to connect to external Database through ODBC in AX 2012, is there a way to connect to external database in AX 365 ?

If there is way to connect to external database through AX 365, Kindly share the details on how to achieve the same.

Simply use theĀ System.Data.SqlClient library just like you would in a standard C# project.
      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/data/adonet/ado-net-code-examples#sqlclient

The “bad” thing is that if you are using D365 cloud, then your external DB needs to be visible to D365, which means being exposed to internet.

      Hi,

If your external database is on Azure then probably you can use BYOD(Bring Your Own Database) feature of D365FO.

Please refer below links for setup and usage:

      Hi,

I am already aware about BYOD part. In my case it’s an ON-PREMISE database.

Hence BYOD wont apply over here.

      Regards,
      Gokul
