Hi! We are currently running D365 F&O Cloud using storage dimensions “Site” and “Warehouse”. We want to start utilizing the “Inventory status” and “Location” as well.
Is it possible to do this kind of migration with open inventory transactions?
It would be best to coordinate this effort with your developers or Microsoft Partner. If transactions already exist for the items you’d like to change the storage dimension group for, it can be quite the headache. The suggested solution would be to create new items with the proper setup, however, you should be pair up with your partner before proceeding.

We are currently taking on this task.Ā It seems that if you do not have the configured properly out of the gate, the inventory value reports will never work right.Ā As Ian says, you have to setup new products with the correct settings.Ā You then “Write Off” the old inventory using an inventory adjustment and then “Write On” to the new products with another inventory adjustment. Ā
Also, this may be obvious to everyone but me.Ā You cannot edit the storage dimension group of a product from the main product screen, but there is a menu option that will allow you to do it.
