      ?Hello,

      We are on Dynamics AX 2012 R2 CU7.Ā Ā  We would like to start backflushing on some of our raw materials but are not certain how aĀ batch number is selected when multipleĀ batch numbers exist in the staging area?Ā  Is it by FIFO?Ā

      Thanks,

      Aaron

      Aaron,

      Batch reservation on the production order with back flushing reserves materials based upon the setup in the Item Model Group.Ā  Within the Item Model Group you can specify to use FIFO or FEFO reservation based on if you’re using expiration dates or not.Ā  Then you will need to make sure the reservation parameter setup at Product Control Parameters is set to something other than Manual so that the batch is auto-reserved during the production order process.

      Are you using WAX?Ā  Read this article about how releasing production orders to the warehouse for picking to staging works that also relates to batch controlled items.

      ?HI Aaron.

      The problem you raise is a problem in AX2012 In theĀ old AX2009 did have reservations to batch level/LP Level.

      AX2012 do not support reservations below Batch – which is typicallyĀ  LP

      Asuming you have following senario;

      1) Batch A – Best-Before 01/11/2017
      2) Batch B – Best-Before 01/12/2017
      3) Batch C – Best-Before 31/10/2017

      With backflush the system will consume No 3 first as it has the lowest best-before then no 1 and lastly no 2.

      The problem you want to move into consuming line and consume from there based on FIFO which AX do not support.

      The Fix is a small fix to have the system consuming based on FIFO when doing backflush.

      Best Regards

      Claus Henriksen
