We have Document Handling setup with, basically, all files being saved into one network folder.Ā As one can imagine, after almost seven years since go live, this folder has many files.
In this folder we have over 43,000 files at a size of 72 gb.Ā These files are attachments, shipping documents, order confirmations, etc.
We are finding it is taking longer and longer to access these files and write to this folder, we assume it is due to size and/or amount of files.
Our question to you is how do you have your document handling setup?Ā Are they any best practices or lessons learned you can share?
Thank you!

We have all our document types set up to land in different folders, not just one folder, so we thought we were doing it the best practice way. Sadly we had the exact same problem, but only on one of our 50 some folders. That told us it likely wasn’t an AX problem. We narrowed it down to a Windows 10 feature/bug. Whenever a directory has a ridiculous number of files in it it will take forever for them to open. We were waiting minutes to open a simple word doc from AX.
Adding the reg key below to the Windows 10 PCs fixed the problem on 100% of our PCs.Ā
