We would greatly appreciate if we could have any feedback on AX 2009 and Windows 10 compatibility. Microsoft confirms that they both are compatible, but we want to know if anyone is actually using it. Do these two get along or there are any drawbacks?

      Thanks,

      Hi Sultan,
AX 2009 works with no issues on Windows 10.  I have been using it for over a year now and it works the same way as on Windows 7.

      Hi Sultan –

I second Ben’s comment. No problems running AX2009 on Windows 10 (Enterprise).

You should check the System Requirements information located at….

      https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26568

just to be sure (updated January 2017).

Here is what the latest AX2009 System Requirements document states:
Software requirements for client computers | Client Computers (page 15)
The following Microsoft Dynamics AX components can be installed on client computers:

      • Application files
      • Windows client
      • Debugger
      • Reporting tools
      • .NET Business Connector

Note:  These components can also be installed on any of the supported server operating systems.  Microsoft Dynamics AX client computers must meet the software requirements that are listed in the following table.

Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise Edition is supported with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 with Rollup 8  and the hotfixes from Knowledge Base article 2830391 and 3158723.

Of course there is much more information in the document worth reading. These System Requirement documents are periodically updated. Not a bad idea to periodically review them and remediate your environments if necessary.

      Thanks…..Dave

No issues – the client works normally on WIndows 10 workstations.  I don’t recall whether the client needs to install .Net Framework 3.5.x or anything similar, but whatever it needs it automatically installs with the client install.
