Our warehouse is currently posting and printing BOL’s and packing slips one SO at a time after confirming shipment. It’s a time consuming task. 

I’m wondering if anyone has come across more efficient ways to handle this using out of the box solutions. 

Questions I’ve wondered but haven’t been able to find anything on in my research:

Is there a way to print multiple BOL’s and Packing Slips at once? 
Is there a way to automatically post the BOL and Packing Slip at shipment confirmation?

It’s not totally clear what your configuration is, but the reference to confirming shipments suggests you are using the warehouse management module.  I’ve set the “Post packing slip” job to run in batch using an advanced filter that links shipments to sales orders, and filters on the shipping confirmation date being equal to (Day(0)).  That means that the packing slip is automatically generated on the day the order is ship confirmed.  It requires us to monitor for orders that failed the packing slip job, but it’s a relatively small problem if your configuration is sound.  The use of the shipment confirmation date means that orders with earlier shipments do not get confirmed until today’s shipment is confirmed.
