Hi…I am trying to find information on Atlas templates and how they work, specifically when uploading data into AX.Ā  I am trying to get a deep dive understanding on how Atlas integrates with the AOT, classes, etc.

If anyone has any information they can share, I’d appreciate it!

      Very best,

You will need a login for Insight Software, who is the owner of Atlas at this moment.

Here is the link to Insight Software’s Atlas upload templates for all AX versions:

      Hi Lori,

Atlas uses the .Net Business Connector to access the AOS. Using this access, it can upload records to any table, and you can configure an upload to run a method after each record is inserted (for example, when uploading records to SalesTable, you could get it to run the initFromCustTable method. Or, in some cases, you might write your own method and have it call that). Atlas has no X++ code of its own, and is not installed ‘in to’ the AOT as such.

Hi Guy!Ā  Thank you so much!!!!Ā  Is there a way to understand (from the template maybe?) what .Net Business Connector is accessing once connected to the AOS?Ā  I’d like to know which classes, forms, etc the template is making connection with.
      Thank you again!
      Lori

Atlas can only access Tables, so far as I know (and possibly Views, but I don’t see how it could use them for Uploads!).

To see what an Atlas template is doing, you should sign-on to Atlas, then open the template in Excel. In the Excel ribbon bar, hit the Atlas Upload button. This will show the Upload(s) which exist in that spreadsheet. If you hit the Pencil icon next to the upload (labelled Show inspector in my version), you will see the table and fields which Atlas is uploading to. If the upload is populating multiple tables, you can hover over each field to see which Table the field is in.

To see if Atlas is calling any Method attached to the Table…. well the only way I know is to check each field in turn. Click the cog icon, then find ‘Table method’ (in my version, it is under Options). Normally this is blank, but if it is used, I think it will only be set on one field. It tells you which of the Methods on the table is being called.
