Hi
We are currently on AX Dynamics 2012 R2Ā
i am struggling setting up an alert on a Device – for example if a device has been stolen we would like a pop up alert and/or email to notify us if that device comes in for a service or any task.Ā Ā
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gina,Ā Ā Ā We are also an AX2012R2 with IDMS user.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Have you confirmed that Alerts work correctly in other parts of AX?
Ā Ā Ā Are you using the Annata Business Platform Supplementary actions?Ā Or application events?Ā Ā Both of this are ISV layer functions which have struggled to get working correctly.Ā

OK, this next bit gets fairly technical.Ā ĀThe table EventCUD is central to the correct functioning of Alerts.Ā Ā EventCUD records are created every time a record in a table with an alert is altered.Ā Then the Alert Batch Task reads all the eventCUD records to determine if any of them should trigger an alert.Ā Ā
So for example, if you are putting an Alert on a device,Ā then the Alert rule will be againstĀ Data DictionaryTablesAMDeviceTable.Ā Ā First, check the EventRule table to ensure your rule shows up.Ā It will like something like this:
Note the AlertTableId,Ā Ā that same ID should be written into the eventCUD table in the CudTableID each time it is altered.Ā Ā Make sure that those eventCUD records are being created.Ā Ā You will need to look in the EventCUD beforeĀ ClassesEventJobCUD(Change based Alert Batch) runs next.Ā Ā Ā
It should look like this:If the eventCUD is not being created then we would need to look at customizations around the Device Table or form.

?Thanks Corey!
Posts like this make me wish I could mark them as favorites š Not useful to me at this very moment, but has the level of detail I’m sure I would find useful the next time I’m customizing event functionality š

Hi Tony,
One way to keep track of posts like this is to ‘Like’ or recommend them.Ā Then to access your recommended/liked posts, you can visit My Profile > My Contributions > Summary.Ā Click on the Recommends section of the wheel, and content that you’ve Liked will appear below.Ā Choose Message in the filter option, and you’ll see posts sorted by date.Ā ĀThere also continues to be platform development work to make it easier for users to track content of interest.Ā Hope this helps for now!
Best,
Michelle——————————
