      Greetings,
I am slowly putting together a Warehouse (AWM99) in our Test system. I am currently working on creating locations. I created a couple that matched our current format, so I thought I would try the Location Wizard. Evidently I have something created incorrectly.
What do I need to get the locations to be created in the Wizard to match what I created manually?
      Thank you very much.

Update…after digging around in the Location setup wizard, I was able to create essentially what I was wanting. But, on a level with numerous bins, is there a way to designate bins A through G for example?

?It’s hard to tell without seeing the rest of your setup, but it sounds like you need another segment on the location format that is referenced on your location profile ID.

Thank you Kevin. That’s the line that I’m thinking. I am still working with creating the locations. Didn’t know if, in AX, there was a way for the system to create multiple bins by using say A-G or some other way. I apologize, but I am learning, so I do not know all the verbiage the more learned folks use.
I have attached three screen shots, Location Format, Location Wizard, and Locations with Bin Designators. I would like to see if the /01 can be an alpha.
      Thank you again Kevin.

      hi David

AX wont create incremental locations for you when using characters as level indicators.
if you simply have an aisle with locations 1 to 1000 it would auto increment ok

we had the same issue for example aisle with 7 levels A to G each level has 40 locations

was easier to make the locations in excel and just import them

Thank you Malachy. I was hoping I was doing something incorrectly. I will see which direction management would like to go. Again, appreciate your time Sir.

I agree with it will be much easier for you to create the locations in Excel and then use the standard “AX Add-in for Excel” feature to bring the locations into AX.Ā  Below is a link that can hopefully help you with process.

Using the Microsoft Dynamics AX Add-in for Excel

The topics in this section describe common tasks that are related to using the Office Add-in for Microsoft Excel. For example, you can use Excel to import data to Microsoft Dynamics AX. You can export data from Microsoft Dynamics AX to an Excel workbook that is linked dynamically to the tables in Microsoft Dynamics AX.
