      Greetings,

I am new to D3FO and need to know how to access AOT.

Is there an easy way like CTRL-D or some other toggle?

      Hi,

AOT is accessible through Application explorer in Visual Studio(login as administrator). Also please check the tab Dynamics 365 for more options.

To expand a little further, each environment has a RDP link that you can download from LCS.Ā  This will allow you to access the VM that is hosted on Azure for the specific environment that you are after.Ā  You need to connect to that VM using the credentials provided in LCS for your development environment.

Once you are in the VM for your development environment, then you need to run Visual Studio.Ā  Everything is pre-built with the tools you need.Ā  If you access your DEV from your subscription account, then there will be no admin access, so don’t try and run as administrator.Ā  If you are connected to a cloud hosted environment dev box, then ensure you login as admin, and run visual studio as administrator.

You have to be logged into a development VM to access the AOT, you can’t do it from the browser.

      Regards,
      Andrew

There is an extension for Chrome that will allow you to view the AOT.Ā  Edits to the tables requires developer acces?s.Ā  Google D365 table browser

If you have access to DevOps then you can if you are allowed view the branch in this.Ā  The benefits in this are basically the AOT filtered just to the developments.Ā Ā I am not a developer however i use this as a way to quickly see what is the changes we have made to the product as the extensions and the core code is segregated.Ā  This means I do not need access to a VM or know anything around VS.

As a point of reference just be careful with the chrome extension.Ā  Make sure you go to the setting of the extension and set the value ‘

Allow this extension to read and change all your data on websites that you visit’ to the particular URL for your dynamics URL

      Rick,
Ā  Ā  Ā  You have lots of useful information provided, hope that is all helpful.Ā  It really depends on what you are trying to achieve.Ā  Things have changed a lot from a technical stand point with D365.Ā  The AOT as we know it is only accessible through a development VM.Ā  However, there are great tools out there like the table browser plugin in Chrome (as already mentioned).Ā
You do have to think a little differently now that the client has been removed and replaced with a browser interface.Ā  With a browser, the interaction is really event driven, so you have to start looking at using the interface more to control your actions.Ā  Once you get used to it, you will probably find that it works better operationally.

Hope that’s helpful.Ā  If there is something more specifically that you are trying to achieve, then perhaps you may want to share that and the community can give you further advice/guidance.

      Regards,
      Andrew
