We are having a bit of trouble truly understanding how to utilize the Transfer function in AX. We would ideal like it to work as our regular transfers do and create a packing slip and BOL. However, it does not seem to do that. I am reaching out to see how the rest of the world uses this feature and what customizations might have been made to get more functionality out of it.
TIA

A Transfer order instead of a Transfer journal should get you what you need… Which are you using?
Thanks, Sean

Hi Darla,
Can you please confirm which transfer function you are currently utilizing?Ā There are transfer journals and transfer orders in the system.Ā The transfer order contains a picking and BOL functionality.Ā Which are you using?
We’re working on implementing transfer orders to move materials between warehouses. We have a combination of managed and unmanaged warehouses in 2012 R3, so we have a variety of scenarios in terms of how we’re using transfer order functionality. We’re also planning a customization that allows you to create transfer orders using a unit other than the inventory unit of measure. We’re a meat manufacturer, so our items are all set up with LB as the inventory unit. Our warehouse workers are more familiar with Cases and pallets though and want the ability to create a transfer order for 3 pallets of an item or 20 cases of it, for example. We’re not done with our transfer order set up, or the customization, but I’d be happy to share more information with you.
Thanks, Amanda
