?We are getting ready to do our first year end close.Ā  Over our first year with NAV we have made some changes in our chart of accounts that has resulted in blocking some accounts and dimensions.Ā  The closing entries cannot seem to generate without all of these accounts being ‘unblocked’Ā  Our developer has suggested that we use the data migration function to export tables, unblock accounts, re-import the table, run the closing entry then re-import the original tables that have the fields blocked.Ā  I am hesitant to mess with tables and wonder if there is another way to run closing entries without un-blocking accounts and dimensions.

Unfortunately, that is the process. Ā It sounds messy, but it’s not really too bad. Ā You can use RapidStart to do the export and imports of the chart of accounts and the dimension tables, unless your partner has another solution.

Frances correct seems like a lot but until you get yourself into a proper routine, the work needs to get done.

I suggest performing this in a test database.
Follow all procedures and write them down as you make corrections.

This way you 1st EOY comes out good in your test sandbox database.
P.s. Remember to the steps being suggested.

      Good luck.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015: How to Run the Close Year End Process
In Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015, the Close Income Statement batch job transfers the year’s results to a Retained Earning account in the balance sheet and closes all of the income statement accounts. This process creates a journal, which is posted manually.

      ?Frances,

I am going to assume there are balances in these blocked accounts and you need them closed out to your retained earnings accounts ? Perhaps you have thought of this, but how about re-classing those balances to your new accounts ?

      Thanks,
