What triggers Sales Order Archive update
Posted by Lars Anderson on August 21, 2018 at 5:57 pm-
Hi,
We use the Archive Sales Orders to view the various versions of a Sales Order, and would like to understand what causes a new version to be generated.
Any update would be much appreciated.

Hi Lars,The configuration is done from the “Sales & Receivables Setup”. Under General, there is an option for “Archive Quotes and Orders”.
From the Help description:
Specifies whether to automatically archive sales quotes and sales orders when a sales quote/order is deleted.Archives are created when sales quote/orders are deleted in the following ways:
- Automatically, because the full order quantity is posting as shipped and invoice.
- Manually, by deleting a sales quote/order with postings.
- With the Delete Invoiced Sales Orders batch job (typically used after combined shipment posting).
There are also two manual ways of Archiving.
1- From the Sales Quote or Sales Order ribbon > Archive Document
2- When you select “Print Confirmation”, there is an option to “Archive Document”

We customized our system so that every time we “Print Confirmation”, the flag for “Archive Document” is always on.Cheers,

Eduardo explained it with pictures nicely.
Microsoft does have a link to view as well an a sample:
How to Archive Sales and Purchase Documents – Dynamics NAV App
Microsoft remove preview
How to Archive Sales and Purchase Documents – Dynamics NAV App You can archive sales and purchase orders, quotes, return orders, and blanket orders, and you can use the archived document to recreate the document that it was archived from. You can set up automatic archiving of sales and purchase orders, quotes, blanket orders, and return orders, before you delete documents. View this on Microsoft > Several things to consider is how big is the file going to get?
Are you going to customize it to auto archive during Print/Release/Modify/Delete/Post?
Sample coding:Ā ArchiveManagement.AutoArchiveSalesDocument(Rec);
Things to think about.Ā
Good luck.——————————
