Using NAV for Project Management

Happy Monday all!
I have aĀ business requirementĀ to track tasks and their completion using standard NAV or with little modification. Has anyone used Jobs or Workflow or other to solution a requirement like this?
General setup: Task with a resource assigned to a work order, the work order assigned to a project, the project/work order would be assigned to a Customer set up on the system. Reporting on status of tasks and their completion is needed.
Before creating something custom, I felt the need to see if others had solutioned this same requirement using NAV or anĀ add-on.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Lynette,We use Jobs in tandem with MS Project.Ā We have a default Job template which we copy to create new jobs (including related task lines), then adjust as needed.Ā Once that is lined up, we export to CSV, then import into Project…using the Jobs module to track costs and usage, capacity, and resources.Ā Then we use Project for the overall timeline management and communication.
It’s not seamless (i.e. no direct integration), but it works very well for general projects.Ā And the engineers like the arrangement…which is a bonus!Ā We just upgraded to NAV 2016, so are still getting used to it, but really like the Jobs module overall for managing internal projects (innovation, capital, etc.).

??Hi LynetteYou can also use the Planning Dates on the Planning Lines to manage the dates of when the resources should complete their activities. Determining how complete they are depends on how detailed you want to get. I like the import to MS approach if you need to track % complete at a granular level.
There is also an overdue flag on the planning line which is activated when the planning date has passed which can be a helpful indicator. However because it could be overdue but completeĀ IĀ would want to do a small mod.Ā It would be very simple to add aĀ new field to the planning line or taskĀ which is an option list and you could track completion that way more high level (Started, In Progress, Finished). Of course, you could add as many options as you’d like and call them whatever you like. I am not at all a programmer and I could do this, that is how simple it is š
If you want to track percent complete and able to select from 0 -100 I think Andy’s suggestion is great.
