I’m afraid that the answer is “no”, but is it possible to undo a sales shipment that was posted in the previous (and now closed) period?  Scenario:  Posted shipment on 1/31/17. Closed January.  Now on 2/14/17 discovered shipment was in error and desire to undo the shipment, but not reopen January.  Sales order has not been invoiced.

As long as the invoice is not posted, you can undo shipment. Are you getting errors when you do so?

Dynamics NAV does not have a “hard” close. So that means the allow posting from/to dates are controlled in the General Ledger Setup or the User Setup.

I agree with Alex, as long as the invoice isn’t posted you should be able to undo the shipment if you open up the posting dates. Just be aware that this will affect the GL balances for the prior month that the shipment was posted.

You can definitely undo the shipment.  If you are using directed putaway and pick, you will have to use a Whse Internal Putaway to move the returned inventory from your shipping bins back to pick or putpick bins.

Lewis is correct, if you are using directed pick and putaway it is important to move the inventory back to the right bin.

This is also the case if you haven’t made a shipment yet but have registered a pick and then need to delete the warehouse documents for some reason.

I wrote a blog on how to do this with Directed Pick and Put-away. It’s for PO Receipt, but it’s the same process for shipments except you go to the sales side instead of the purchase side.

Overview Undo receipt has become a necessity in some warehouse environments where the staff may not be able to keep up with the paper flow. Strictly speaking, the undo receipt process shouldn’t be necessary because the process in place should be able to accommodate.

If you have closed the inventory period you will also have to reopen it to allow the undo shipment to process.  As previously stated this will effect prior period GL balances.
