Can anyone explain the logic behind the following as it relates to Transfer Orders.

I notice that when you post the shipment on transfer order, status is changed to released. I understand that and it make sense. What is troubling and not sure why the system does this:

      1. shipment date and receipt date being the same? Unless the warehouse’s are next door to each other or in same town, highly unlikely inventory will ship and be recieved the same day.
      2. Why you cannot edit the transfer order receipt date?
      3. I know you can reopen the Transfer Order and change the line receipt date, but that also changes the shipment date?

I know that you cannot not overreceive, or if items are lot or serial receive a different lot or serial.

      Thanks!

Andrea:Ā  I have encountered the same issue.Ā  Maybe it is a bug.Ā  If it isn’t a bug, I would like to know the logic also.

I have noticed you have to reoopen the transfer order to make any changes to the line or header date –Ā
i did update the lines and header, but still shows receipt date as shipment date.
Seems like a BC issue, unless i am doing something wrong.

      Hi Andrea

There are two posted transactions that are related to a Transfer Order:
      1.Ā  Posted Transfer Shipment
      2.Ā  Posted Transfer Receipt

Shipment date and Receipt Date are by default the same date.

When you post a Transfer Order Shipment and enter a Shipment Date, eg. 06/16/2019, this Shipment Date will be recorded against the Posted Transfer Shipment.

When you then post a Transfer Order Receipt and enter a different Receipt Date, eg. 06/18/2019, this Receipt Date will be recorded against the Posted Transfer Receipt.

      Andrea,

Let me know if you find this to be the answer to your quandary.

In BC, the Shipment Date is calculated from the Requested Receipt Date plus Lead Time. The following are used to determine lead time 1) Outbound Whse. Handling Time (defaults to TO based on From Location and may be modified on the Transfer Order,) 2) Inbound Whse. Handling Time (“1D” in this example is based on To Location and not visible or modifiable on the Transfer Order, ) and 3) Shipping Time (May be assigned to Shipping Agent Service and may be modified on the Transfer Order.)Ā  Ā In BC you cannot modify the dates on the lines, only the calculation values can be modified.

I forgot to mention, Inbound and Outbound Whse. Handling Times can also be defined in Inventory Setup but I don’t think these apply to Transfer Orders. I would have to test to be certain.

      1.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Navigate to Transfer Route Setup: TSM/Departments/Inventory/Setup/Setup – Inventory.

      2.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Click on “Transfer Routes”.

      3.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Click on “Show Matrix” in the ribbon.

      4.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Click on the Transfer Route.

5.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  There is field for the “Shipping Agent Service Code”. Use the pull down and click on “Advanced”.

6.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Edit or add a Shipping Agent Service. Then update the “Shipping Time”. For example, from our Illinois facilities to our Arizona facility we have “4D” entered.

7.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Close all the windows and your system should now correctly calculate transfer time.

thanks – i will look at that. Can theĀ
I am working on updating the transfer order via integrated inbound document options with our AppSource app – so want to make sure i understand the options to relay to my development team.

i did notice if i reopen the Transfer order i could edit the receipt date on the line, and see that date when Navigating to the linked receipt, but the shipment section below you cannot edit that receipt date.

      Thanks for all the input.

If you fill in the “Shipping Time” field on the Transfer-From tab, the Receipt date will automatically update.Ā  Put in “4D” or “45D” and the Receipt date will be calculated.
