We’re wondering if there’s a way to track which documents (specifically Purchase Orders) were created by accepting Action Messages via the Planning Worksheet vs. created manually from scratch.Ā Anyone know of clever ways to track which way a PO was originally created?Ā

Not a super elegant suggestion but would not require any customization (if this is not possible with standard functionality; I could not find any standard identifier):
You could check the Allow Manual Numbers option on the purchase orders number series.Ā When you manually create a PO, use a unique prefix or suffix for the number so it can be identified from those created off of the worksheet.

I was going to suggest pretty much what Paul said.
You can have 2 numbering sequences, one for manual orders and one for planning worksheet.
The planning worksheet would use the default numbers and the manual orders, you’d pick the alternate number series.
You can also use a Dimension (Department Code, for instance) or even the Description or Description 2 field, because those should get pushed to the actual document.
Dimension Code would give you visibility at the Chart of Accounts level, whereas the other options would be at the sub-ledgers level.
