We have a significant number of items that are used by our production team when scheduling. Many are not items we offer for sale, rather they are used in planning and scheduling manufacturing. The issue is that during order entry these items can be entered on an order, and if it is missed it will show up in scheduling causing confusion.

The route we’re exploring is “Sales Blocking” these items on the item card. Is this the best solution, and if so would there be an efficient way to create this list? Trying to avoid going through our system item by item to complete.

have never tried it, but it sounds like a SALES BLOCKED item will work for you. When an item is SALES BLOCKED it cannot be entered on a sales order. It can, however, be entered on Return Orders, Credit Memos, and Journals.

Rounding out Lewis’s response (which I agree), to mass update you can use a config package or Edit in Excel to mass update items with this flag.
