Has anyone use the Purge Function in Lanham EDI ?

I want to know what does this one do and what is the impact if I use this Purge Function.

We are trying to clean up our database.

I have recently used the Purge E.D.I. Receive Documents function and the Purge E.D.I. Send Documents function.  Both enabled me to delete old send and receive documents based on a date.

If you have a test system, I recommend you try it out there first so you will feel comfortable running it in your live environment.

      Dear Lewis,

Yes, I do have a testing database – I will try it there like you said.

      Thanks

      Berlinda.

We set up the purge function to run every night in the job queue and purge incoming and outgoing documents older than 90 days.  This frees up a TON of space because the Lanham EDI module saves every incoming and outgoing data element as a record.  Those add up pretty quickly.  This helps searching for and processing EDI documents be much faster.

If you’re interested, I’d be happy to share the code that we run in the job queue.

      Dear Jason:

That would be nice if you can share the code regarding the job queue for purging.

      Thanks

Jason, we are using the Purge function for Lanham in NAV 2017, and doing so manually.

We would appreciate help setting up a Job Queue entry to perform this in a scheduled manner.

Would you be able to assist?

      Thanks,
      Gerry Witjes

As part of our monthly database maintenance routines I use both the Archive and Purge processing reports. I archive documents older than 45 days (they are removed from the list view) and purge documents older than 7 months. Archiving makes searches faster and the purging helps to keep the database trim.

      Dear Stephen:

We have archived all past years EDI Documents (Send/Received) but never attempt to do the purge as not sure if there is any impact.

Just out of curiosity – if you purge the data, do you ever have someone asking to find it again for like auditing purpose or any other legal purpose?

      Thanks

      Berlinda

      Hi Berlinda,

We’ve not yet had anyone come back looking for the EDI document for the purposes of an audit and there would be plenty of other related documents (Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, etc.) in NAV that would satisfy that need anyways. We have had a partner come back and ask for the raw EDI file and/or to retransmit a missing file but that usually happens within a week or so of the original transmission. We’ve only ever used the EDI documents for troubleshooting purposes.

Appreciate your input on this.  We have not seen anyone ask for it so far even when we archived it.
Only a few 812 was asked for from past year by our accounting.

      Thanks

      Berlinda

If you deal with retailers then you may need to do Chargeback research for ASNs.
