Port No for customize pages in web client
Posted by Unknown Member on August 31, 2020 at 10:04 am-
Hi All
My 2020 instance (on-prem) is on port 8080, but when I go to edit a profile and select “customize pages”, it’s switching to port 48900. Anyone know where to change this? Also curious why there would be an option for it to be on a different port no.
Thanks
Mark

Open up the Business Central Administration tool. Expand the Client Services tab.
The last field on the bottom right is called Web Client Base URL. What is in that setting?

Hey Kyle
There is no Admin Tool forĀ 2020, just powershell. I ran a bunch of cmdlets, but didn’t see anything

Then perhaps I do not understand what you mean when you say 2020.
I have a customer using Business Central 16, which is the Spring / April release from 2020. They are OnPrem, and that does have an administration MMC console application that gets installed if you choose to install Administration Tools during installation of the product.
If you mean the current BC 17 previews, I have only experimented with that in Docker, which means no GUI. But a full OnPrem installation for the BC17 preview would still have the option of installing the Administration console.
My theory is that when BC was installed, someone accidentally put the Help URL into the Web Client Base URL spot, and now it doesn’t know how to launch external links properly. If you don’t have the ability to install the Administration tool, you can look at the customsettings.config file for that service tier instance.

So much for my first idea. Can you paste or attach the customsettings.config file for that service instance?

Mark,
As per Kyle comment, you need to set the web Client Base URL. Then Restart the Service Tier and try again.
Attached is the image how to set Base URL – http://ServerName:8080/BC160/WebClient/
Change Highlighted value as per your configuration.——————————
