I am looking for suggestions on how to flag an item so that it will not get reordered once the quantity on hand is depleted.  We are on NAV 2015.  Thanks in advance.

      Hi Pam,

From the item card, you can “Block” it or change the “Reordering Point” to something astronomically high that you will never reach.

      Cheers,

Unless there’s demand for the item, it will not get replenished even when the quantity reaches zero.  Demand takes the form of sales orders for the item, production orders with the item listed as a consumption item, item forecasts, item card setting (like safety stock, etc.) and a few others.  As long as there is nothing ‘demanding’ the item, the planning or requisition worksheet should not suggest purchases.  Are you seeing suggested purchases even with those demands removed?

There will be a demand for it because it is a chemical in a formula and the formula will not be changed until the chemical has been depleted.  We want to keep the chemical from being ordered when it reaches the point that a need is there.

This is a two step process:

1.) Changing the Reordering Policy on the Item to the “Blank” option.  This tells the Planning/Req. Worksheets to ignore the Item.  This will prevent system generated purchases of the Item.

2.) When the Item reaches 0 Quantity on Hand, block the Item.  This will prevent manual purchases of the Item.  You would need to watch the Item to ensure no one orders the Item during the depletion of Inventory.

      Best Regards,

      Hello,

If you do not want system to reorder the quantity even if the item is depleted then it is assumed that the item will be taken care manually and will be ordered when it is needed.

You should change your Reordering Policy field to blank so Planning or requisition worksheet will not consider this for requirement planning.
