We had one user that lost connection to the NAV server every four minutes – like clockwork.Ā  It wasn’t the PC (he logged on to other PCs and the same thing happened, others logged onto the network and NAV with his PC and could work with no loss of connection).Ā  It wasn’t the network (we did all kinds of traces and tests).Ā  We eventually deleted his domain account and re-created it.Ā  He no longer has the issue.Ā  Ā Now we have two other users that sporadically lose connection to NAV.Ā  Again, it’s not the PC and it’s not the network.Ā  I don’t really want to delete and recreate domain accounts all the time.Ā  Has anyone experienced this and found the root cause?

I had a user with a similar issue before, and I think we ended up doing the same thing — re-create his account.

You could have your network admins run a packet sniffer and see if it helps find something.

What version of Windows Server are you guys running? It could also be an issue with Active Directory on the server — perhaps a corrupted AD store?

?Also, check the Windows Event Viewer to see what is being reported there. Newer versions of NAV write to the Event Viewer.

You probably didn’t need to remove the entire account and re-create it (which would be a pain if the user is in groups and has any special security stuff setup, it would all have to be recreated).Ā  I am making an assumption here that the user is using a roaming profile.Ā  Re-creation of the profile should have been sufficient.Ā  We randomly have weird issues like this (they aren’t really NAV related but dropping the network connection makes NAV angry) with a number of users.Ā  I have tracked it down to different causes each time, so without knowing the hardware and what is going on exactly in the environment, its really hard to diagnose.
